Vehicle insurance fleet insurance etc

I would think all knows vehicle insurance has gone up silly. Mines gone up over 500 quid for nowt.

Anyhow one interesting thing I found out was that :

you do not use or accrue ncb with a fleet policy. (Specifically talking ncb here. You would get some sort of no claim history with that company)

Your ncb only lasts 2 years if you do not use it....

Before fleet policy I had 13 years on one vehicle and 10 years on another....

Catch 22 now if i don't get a policy that accepts ncb before mid November they are gone.

Does anyone bother with ncb now ?

Anyone just though about their circumstances now? As I've just made you aware?

Kind of pissed to leave the ncb behind if I continue fleet policy....

2 truck and 1 tractor, though tractor could be insured separately for me.

if you try aviva insurance and try to put modified in, it come up we cannot insure you over the inter net or over the phone. This is purely due to the chip box which I'm sure would be classed as a modification?

Anyhow just hope folk haven't sleep walked into loosing their ncb.

Imagine if you finishnup business in the next few years and need to insure a car for yourself and back with no ncb

I ve been told that fleet policy only for 3 or more and you can't put tractor on fleet.

As soon as modified is add on Internet quote no matter which company you have to ring and ring a company always gets better quote.

All my policy's are commercial so when I need a car policy it's going to cost, and I have been driving for, 35 years, it's not fair that you can't move ncb on.

I used to see ads for insurance deals for people stopping a company car, same deal may have driven years and years on company policy so no NCB built up.

I think you're right, chip box isn't manufacturer standard so you'd need to notify them. I have been told shelving inside a van is notifiable but don't know if that is really true.

When I got a 2nd van 5yrs ago I had to start off again with no ncb on that, and the the insurance was the same price with with 0yrs ncb as  the maximum 12+yrs or whatever on the other van. Then as the years went on the prices stayed similar to each other.

So for me no claims bonus has no bonus

Mini Fleet policies (normally requiring 3-4  vehicles minimum) work off of claims experience.

Which is really annoying as you have to get it from your current broker, who invariably drag their heals to limit you getting other quotes.

Just been stung today, 2 weeks into our new policy, sold our transit tipper worth 5k and replaced with a brand new canter - had to pay an extra £1,100 to do so 😢

Its gone up a boat load this year.

Apparently its becuase the insurance underwriters paid out 108% of the premium income in claims last year. Where as normally the net figure is 90-92%

Shit isn't it. Heard a few folk say due to electric vehicle fires etc but not sure how much weight that argument has....

I questioned vehicle value.... master tipper at 16k I think and a ranger, over valued at 5500.... 10k difference in value. Same premium

Yes I now someone how had company car supplied but she bought a little Mazda sports car to keep her ncb going, she has just stopped working so company car gone and she has bought a Mini cooper top of the range and cheapish insurance.
