I’m with peds on the clicking. Otherwise a nice-to-have but not for £287.

I'm fine with four or five regular pulleys instead, and we'll provide the clickety click noises ourselves.

Anything that adds that lovely clicking noise to your operation is a worthwhile investment in my opinion.

We've just upgraded to a pair of Harken Clutch for our belay/haul masterpoint (mountain rescue team), the steady clickety ratcheting as you haul in is like music.

Directional pulleys have their place. Definitely not worth getting upset over.

You know what else is a lovely sound. The iphone app store ding and vibration when you put your password in and get it right. Phones do loads of dings and vibrations but that's the best one by miles.

I don't have an iPhone, I can't picture it I'm afraid. Could you record an impression of it?

Inimitable, incommunicable, visceral.

Who's been silly enough to buy one?

I'm probably not the ideal purchaser, I know that because i use a homebuilt capstan/bollard

Bit like that?

No but I did enjoy downloading an app I don't need for the sensations.
