Best way to get Spruce Sap of you climbing kit - It is set like Concrete..

What's the best way to get Spruce Sap of you climbing kit as it is set like Concrete..

I know people have said put ropes and prussic chords in a washing machine. But I can't do that with a wirecord flipline with a fixed Carabiners and multisaver on it and also other metal items that you can't get in to.

I have tried hot soapy water and it is not doing much.

 

For the Metal and hard equipment, hot soapy water, WD40, also don't seem do anything.

I've never tried it but iirc it has been suggested to rub butter into the rope as that dissolves/loosens the sap. 

I read it here on AT so a search might help.

 

I've found that it dries out and just disappears in time. Although I have used petrol in the past which works great but I doubt it does the rope any good!
