First Aid course

I'm sure you will do Bob but seeing those words I'm compelled to say please take it seriously, take as much as you can from it and keep it at the front of your mind in the future.

Won't say much, but I'm still feeling quite emotional and keep going over an event last week where my emergency response/first aid was tested to the limit.

I'm so glad now that I've treated these courses as valuable, and little things like enacting emergency information boards on site in addition to RA, actually having comprehensive first aid kit at hand, as well as being in the habit of carrying my personal trauma kit attached to me rather than leaving it somewhere handy.

We all know it can be a dangerous job but when that risk is suddenly realised and the situation is critical these things are invaluable.

I should say at this point that everyone will see a happy christmas with their loved ones, but that may not have been the case without excellent emergency preparation, comprehensive first aid kits, and the basic knowledge to use them.

Sorry it's my turn to preach Bob, but it's very fresh for me and was by far the most serious event of my working life.

We tend to say "stay safe out there" a lot, please do everyone. 👍

Beech hedge reduction completed yesterday, took about 7' off it. They were dealing with arisings themselves, I enjoyed their surprise at the magnitude of what they'd taken on. "Didn't realise there'd be so much stuff from just cutting a hedge".

Story as old as time! They never understand how neat and tidy things are when they are stacked vertically into the sky, and how much mess they make when they turn horizontal.

Good morning everyone. Back home to Ireland today, back to work 0730 tomorrow.

Morning all,

Mild and dry here, ideal for a bit more walking.

Not preaching at all Doug. Hope the memory settles down soon for you. We need reminding about the nature of our work, so we don't get complacent.

I love it when customers realise how much they have underestimated disposal of arisings.

It was a pretty intense hour and it has affected us, but the business and the team I'm with have been so supportive and professional in the days after which is very positive. Also our protocols and capabilities received complimentary feedback from the medical people that attended, and we've been approached by a chap that formerly worked on casualty evacuation in Afghan who had some very kind words to say, so I'm feeling quite proud of what we achieved.

I've always felt it's helpful to be open and communicative about these things and I'd like to speak more freely about it but it's not appropriate, for now anyway.

Morning all, ended up not going to the Xmas works day out with the young ones.  Doug hope the person in question is going to be ok.  Things can change in a second in this game.  Glad you all pulled your experience and training together to get things done.
