Morning and Happy St George's day!

Day off and raining. Typical!

Off to collect some Lebanon Cedar to mill, so things looking up.

Have a great one.

Might have told this story but....

Back in the 80's,  a Lebanese came over in the garden of a local vicarage.  A deal was done and it was mine. I lived in an ex council terrace but planned eventually to get a bigger house. I took the usable lengths to the sawmill at Whatton Hall and Sid, Keith and myself discussed the butt's with Nog, the local carpenter. There was enough to get a decent sized table and church pew type seat so we set about the job and the Robinson Reciprocating Saw rumbled into life with the slapping of all the endless belts. The grain and smell were fantastic! The smell of Cedar and the purple through to orange and yellow pippy grain were excellent!  The finished lengths of different sizes and widths were stacked to air dry in a lorry body to dry! The container was also workshop/store/bait room and always smelt good! Every year I used to empty the stock, turn or adjust the stack to get an even drying......Several years went buy and eventually I had a 24'x12' kitchen and I saved up Nog's fee. That summer, some b@stard set off some fireworks and one shot under the glassonite lorry body and burnt the lot to the ground!!!

The old use of Cedar was in the manufacture of furniture - drawer bottoms especially, so that your knicker drawer smelt sweet!

Morning

Lovely day off.

Couldn't get Lebanon out in large enough bits to mill so I have a 5-ish ton pile of lovely smelling firewood.

Sorry @PeteB for re-kindindling (no pun intended) old memories.

Have a great day.

Morning all.

Feeling lazy this morning.

Been meeting some birds of an evening this week, they're quite excitable, take them some little gifts and they're all over me.

Good layers too!
