What kind of fungus is this?

Send photos of it to the natural history museum in London.  They will have an expert who will work out what it is.

 

 Or you could even collect it and send it to them, but I suspect good photos will suffice.

It looks like a type of red algae to me. Someone probably collected it, had it stashed in their car door, parked in the car park and it fell out.

I have lost hats and books and all sorts that way.

It has probably been run over, carried off by a bird or animal or tidied up some other way. 
Wish you’d have smelled it, turned it over or picked it up!
