is this a serious reply?

"sorry my incompetent employees damaged your perfectly functional roof, but your house insurance will probably cover it. Actually I've done you a favour because if you sell it'll only get picked up in a survey so you might as well reroof it now"

Actually yes.

That is clearly not my suggestion and you know it.

know what?

I suppose you were only suggesting that the poster persuades a homeowner to make a fraudulent home insurance claim to save making a claim on there own buisness insurance whilst dressing it up that the poster is actually doing them a favour incase they wanted to sell their property in the future.

It's not fraudulent, a tree has damaged an asbestos roof.

I'm not trying to put lipstick on a pig, but it needs dealing with and the insurance would want every scrap of the horrible stuff off site.

Even my farm insurance has a huge asbestos removal section something like 30k is available, as they want to remove any long term liability.

its completely fraudulent, the tree is in no way responsible. the contractor damaged the roof whilst they were undertaking work on the tree, thus, they are culpable for making good the damage or instructing their own insurance company to deal with the situation.

if you want to believe that its all ok and above board to encourage third parties to commit insurance fraud  that's fine, but don't go round advising people that that is the best situation

It's ridiculous.

A professional tree surgery company has damaged property during the undertaking of their work. If they are unable to repair or replace the damaged property themselves then it goes to their insurance company to sort out.

No bodge repairs, no getting the property owner to commit fraud.

I've encouraged absolutely diddly squat, I even suggested a simple repair.

It's a public forum so do whatever you wish, but the tree is directly over a garage roof and clearly causing issues with damp hence all the moss.

I wouldn't bother with insurance claims, fraudulent or otherwise.

I'd just patch the hole up with this stuff, been around for years so tried and tested. It's mouldable and stays more or less soft so doesn't crack too much with time.
