Or use a tarp, roll it up and grab it like a log. Bit floppy poking it into the back of the van but I'm sure he'll have a technique for that.

I can see the bag lifter being an idea but its another lump to take on the van, shift about, tidy up. I still think develop technique grabbing the bag itself,  using the bag handles is making the bag lower anyway.

 

Or put less in the bag and take the tailgate off the van, which is what I had to do Friday.

 

You can’t grab a fully loaded bag with the grab.

Half loaded bags yes, but we can handball them anyway.

 

Even if the lifter works it won’t come out much, just on jobs where there is an absolute shitload of dust or rakings and you just want to get home.

 

Cost me nothing and took 20 minutes to make.

 

Although I have spent considerable time arguing with people on the internet….

If we're trying to avoid using the right thing at all costs and want to get maximum lift height,  put the bag of rakings on a pallet and use pallet forks?😅😅

Or cut down a nearby bt pole, seems to work 👍

Another real consideration is that I plan to work on my own a lot more for jobs like hedgecutting, so the scope for ‘2 man lifts’ will decrease a bit.

For what they are, yeah they're a bit silly money.

Mine were £100 from a farm sale, adapted with scrap, currently bolted on but will be getting a set of brackets next week, bringing the total cost to £150 and a couple of hours work👍👍 

They're a very versatile attachment.

They're not silly money, they are specifically scaled down and built for strength whilst staying lighweight with optomised geometry.

 

I thought the same as you, but as soon as the forks arrived I could see why they are £700.

If you are going down the route of working on your own, the 4-in-1 bucket is brilliant (on a Multione at least but same principle) for clearing up a windrow of rakings, on grass, with no damage.

 

So when you see the light and buy a bucket, buy that one!
