Stihl pole primer attachment

Has anyone changed the sprocket bar and chain over on the pole pruners as I don’t seem to be getting on very well with the newer type bar and chain compared to the older ones which they stopped doing about 8 years ago. Any help as to what sprocket etc is put on them would be of great help

Sprocket 1/4” 8T -0000 640 2001

12” 1/4” bar - 3005 008 3405

12” 1/4” chain - 3670 000 0064

 

Don’t know if that’s what your meaning but that’s the part numbers to convert the pole pruner from 3/8p to 1/4” micro?

Hello nope that’s what I have on it at the moment I’m wanting to covert it to a more chunky chain and bar which would mean changing sprockets etc

Now I'm not up on the numbers like other people are, but I used my pole pruner for trimming hawthorn hedges with its original bar and chain. It was prone to throwing the chain off. I swapped bar and chain for a 16" one for my 023, knowing that if it was not a success, I could use it on that. It's still on the pruner, and it has been a huge improvement with regards to staying put. The second suggestion from Jack is that profile I believe.

The 023 will have the same chain pitch size as the original bar and chain spec that would have been fitted to the stihl pruner attachment. Namely 3/8' low profile 1.3mm.oregon number 91vxl.

This was quite a while ago. I was under the impression that the original chain was 1/4". The 3/8" I fitted was certainly much more robust, and stayed in place far better. This was for absolutely attacking thorn hedges, and lowering them savagely. Ah. I think I've spotted the confusion, and it's probably my fault, oops. Mine is the Kombi attachment, and was probably a lighter rig than the dedicated pruners.

Original pole pruner attachments for the Stihl Kombi system were a 12" bar with 3/8"  low profile chain. Predominantly a 1.1mm, but there was an earlier time where it was 1.3mm (like the oregon 91vxl chain) Todays attachment takes the same length bar, but is fitted with the 1/4" 1.1mm picco chain

From having a quick look at the parts diagram it isn't possible, as they don't list a 3/8 sprocket for the gear head.
