Nurses pay rise

A couple of thoughts ref 'lump sum'

1  A lot of the current situation with strikes etc is due to a very recent step up in cost of living.  Being a perennial optimist, some of these costs may decrease in the future - diesel has already dropped back down to under £1.60 a litre in these parts for example.  A lump sum would potentially cover the current situation without commiting to long-term budget increases.

2  Did the nurses not get a lump sum payment as rcognition of their work during Covid lockdown etc?

You can't give then a 10k lump sum it's just impractical. Target it by all means at the lowest paid, maybe move them up one pay grade as a simple solution.

But pick a salary level where it ceases, as why should a GP on 100k get 10k etc.

Yes, it’s a difficult question, what’s your line of work Gareth, and what’s your salary?

This is probably the biggest part of the problem, all the money wasted.

I read the other day they spent £100,000 on training staff how to deal with pregnant transgender men including the use of the terms 'chest feeding'. Not sure if that was actually true but it wouldnt surprise me these days.

Sorry but that just doesn’t compute, you have quite successfully just fried my brain!🤯

you can sleep with and pretend to be who you like but you are still man or woman. 🤔

Less than 25k that's for sure as a self employed sole trader.

Electrical engineering, farmer and firewood processing.

Electrical engineering, farmer AND firewood? Less than 25k????? Are you sure you’re not an accountant?

or maybe a seriously unsuccessful businessman.

If the government would engage in negotiations with the RCN, they would probably have reached an agreement by now……🤔

From what I can see that is the big issue.

It would seem that the Tories want the nhs to collapse for some reason. I wonder what that could be.

Personally I would want to be paid a mahoosive amount of money to be a nurse or paramedic. An old mate of mine is a paramedic, the crap they see and deal with is not something I would like to do on a daily basis.

Pay them a bleedin decent wage, they look after us in our hour of need.
