Thus writes a man that has never had thinnings stacked at roadside waiting for transport. Softwood that has been through a harvester head must be much worse.

 

Now in general I find cordwood, which often is tops from bigger trees, doesn't season in the round but it does lose moisture and the moisture it loses is the cell water down to around 25-30% mc wwb. The remaining moisture is that which is bound to the cell walls and dries much slower.

This has been a stupidly hot summer too, even better drying conditions.

Unless your kilning no need to pass the extra price of cord on to customers today as the logs it makes wont be going out until later next year. 

Sorry I completely disagree with this, it’s a market, why should one not take advantage of for seeing a price rise and increasing their stock??? Farmers do it? You wouldn’t sell your Rolex for the same price you paid for it? Everyone does it, it’s capitalism.  My prices go up with every one else’s, the vast majority of my wood comes from site clearances where I bill the customer to remove it from site, but my prices will still reflect the areas local market even though they buy it in. If I bought an artic of cord for £60 and it’s gone up to £80 quids in, that’s just business.
