Hitch cord?

After using the zigzag with chicane for a few years, I fancy going back to a hitch cord to see if the chicane is any better than the rope wrench for a VT. I’ve always preferred rope-on-rope but the efficiency of a zigzag is a massive plus. 
 

Question is, having not used a VT for at least 3 years, what diameter cord would be best with my Courant Squire v2 11.2mm rope, and what length eye2eye is next for a hitch with a wrench?

That rope is on the thin side, I'd say 8mm most likely. I'd buy a few metres of a few types and knot them, only way to find out really. Length you need depends on the hitch you decide on.

I’d buy a few metres of 8mm Beeline and have a play.

As above, get some lengths of different cord and make your own eye to eye. 8mm will be best for what you need

Good call. I’ll get myself a few samples ordered, Beeline was recommended by a friend too so will definitely give that a try. 
 

Climbing on a hitch, I haven’t used any other setups than a VT, do any of the other knots work better in a single rope setup?

Def 8mm. No recommendations on cord though as I’m not familiar with the rope. General rule of thumb though is to combine a soft cord with a hard rope and vice versa.

 

was never a fan of beeline, found it over rated. Same as with a lot of the other heat resistant cords.

I'd be interested in the answer, I'm on VT too as seemed like everything else I tried would bind up sooner or later. I think people do use Knut for less sitback on SRT.

I used to use 8mm Armor Prus or 10mm volcano on my 11mm velocity when I climbed on a wrench.

 

The volcano performed better surprisingly. Didn't bind as tight
