No chance, the Eder is lighter to tab in with and far more power, can pull just short of 4 tonnes force with a snatch block. Having to carry in  ground anchors doubles the weight to carry.

Heathland sites are acidic soils, those elements are basic metals and would raise the pH which changes the suitability for acid loving plants, especially things like bog asphodels but the heathers too.

I wouldn't  bother pissing about  removing stumps from small areas for conservation purposes

 

Regen will back back in no time anyway unless all the trees are removed from a larger surrounding area

 

Sounds like you need some animals grazing the site other wise it will be like fighting against the tide.

 

Saying the above alot of conservation practice does seem to be totally bonkers (imo)  similar nonsense.

 

Have you seen theese tree pullers thought they were a neat idea not used them though

Thanks all, some very good info, much appreciated. I'll likely try eco plugs or granules sealed with wax etc.
