I wouldn’t buy a 25hp chipper simple as that, well not a proper 6” never mind an 8”

Tbh, we sold loads of 25hp x 6" units over the years, top seller in parts of Europe and our 165 was designed using the Tier 5 version of the 1505 and mated to a suitable rotor works damn well!

A 25hp chipper has less power than three MS880 chainsaws.

Thing is Pete , you can dress it up and re gear it all you want it just won’t have the guts of a more powerful engine, no replacement for displacement and all that, 25hp will be just ok for a 6” machine but no where near for anything bigger.

How long do they last? the engine must be thrashed to get it working well my pedestrian lawn mower has a bigger engine

I’m pretty sure it’s the 25hp @ 2500 rpm so it’s running pretty steady. Think it’s only the throttle position stopping it running at 3000rpm and generating more hp?

I think they run a bit slower than that, my GM 150 with a 34 hp engine is 1800 rpm when chipping.

Oh I l didn’t realise that - a 2022 ST6D when up to max reads out at 1400 on the digital display but I thought that was flywheel speed? Could we’ll be wrong though and it be rpm of engine.

My Schliesing wants to be at 1800 as well, thought that was rpm, may well be wrong!
