What is this??

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My neighbours have gone and planted a tree about 6 inches from my boundary.. They planted one before that was about 8 or 9 feet tall, but just as i was going to speak to them they removed it, so happy days, sensible people i thought.

Today i noticed that they have planted this thing instead. Any idea as to what it is??

Here are some photos..

Thanks all..

I’m certainly no expert by the Geans/Wild Cherry in my Garden are a fair size. Some are/where a good 16-18” DBH and dwarf the house.

As they’ve put netting over the tree I’ll assume they plan on eating the Cherry’s and therefore might try and keep it to a manageable size.

Thanks all,
I notice that they have topped the thing, cutting off the main stem level with the top of the fence where the stem is about 3/4" diameter. Will this stop the thing growing taller??

john..

If they maintain it yes. They may well pleach it along the fence.

I’d not really worry about it. If they maintain it then great. If the don’t then spray what comes over your boundary with Roundup. Oops. 🤣

I think it’s Hindu Kush …..tell me….do they play a lot of trance music ?

Whatever you do, do not eat the ruby appendages on the leaf stem….those extrafloral nectaries could see your whole world expand/deteriorate in equal measure within an evening 🥸
