New project, can’t cut straight lines!

I’ve finally conceded to the fact I just cannot cut a straight line to save my life. I can literally mark all sides of a piece of wood before cutting it and it still comes out on the skew on at least one of the angles.  My daughter collects playing cards and I’m having a go at making her a display stand out of Oak. Hoping this comes out a little nicer than my usual Bodgit jobs so treated myself to a table saw

Nice, will make all the difference to your accuracy.
If you have a waney edge slab you want straight you can screw or hot glue to a piece of ply to use as a guide down the fence.

Ha, my diy generally has a 'rustic' look about it. I'd love a table saw but short of space, so my work will remain wonky!
I just watched The Dawn Wall and Tommy caldwell cut off his index finger with one, so they should be treated with respect!

Have you checked if your saw fence and blade are at 90° angles when I buy any equipment I always check and set up with a set square. I also try and use a steel rule or the same tape measure as you can get different measurements.

Space is a bit of an issue for me but just finished racking out my small garage so could just squeeze this in. Think I’ll lose the side extensions to make it easier to store though
