Seems to be such an American thing, having used a saw with one I want one for my 562 and 660

Does anyone in the UK do them or do I need to get it off ebay from America?

Cheers

Andrew Shavey gets them sometimes . Waste of time on a small saw like a 562 IMHO . Mybe useful on your 660 if you don't want to walk round the other side . Got one on my 395XP but would not want on on a 562 . Just me .

Exactly . Add a couple of extra long bucking spikes/dawgs and make it totally useless but well pimped up . 😀

Apples and oranges I suppose, I find the full wrap makes it a lot easier to use when climbing/chogging down, and I'd rather use the 562 for as much as possible before dragging the 660 up 😅

Even so, I'm sure that most saws in America come with them as standard, don't get why they don't seem to be readily available over here

They are on " west Coast " soft wood big saws 90cc and upwards . Tree surgery , then ok , if you think it helps then yep , its you doing the work . forestry its a hindrance .

They are on saws 60 plus cc too.
For normal forestry in the UK I agree that they are a hinderance, however I do like them for felling on steep bank sides  with longer bars - so much safer not having to use a pushing chain on such slopes.

In America they have big trees and big saws, they also fell at waist height. They are pretty useless in the UK for forestry felling as you can’t get the stump low enough.
I know a few people who use them in the tree for chogging back and all of them find it handy for work positioning.
