I'm slightly confused after Milling what I presumed was Hornbeam. I'm now unsure due to the colouring and notch/small cavities if that the why to describe them! Cheers

I'd do, the bark is smooth with like sharp knurled patches the stem was very ripped and lumpy in shape too

Looks like it could be canker on Spanish red horse chestnut.
