I was talking to a mate yesterday who's boy is out of work and signing on, he's been offered a job once he gets himself a CSCS card so he approached the dole to get the training, for him to get the card through the dole he's got to do two weeks training in guess what? Rember CSCS stands for Construction Skills Certification Scheme.

Warehousing! If he wanted a forklift license I might just be able to see it but going into construction work?

This is where it gets better, the training he would have to do is outsourced to a private company, let's say they charge £150/day, that's 1500 quid of taxpayers money to get a CSCS ticket that you can do in a day for about 100 quid if you pay for it yourself.

My mate is paying for it to get it over and done with and his lad back to work.

Those training places enrage me. There's one I pass walking to the motor factor up the hill from me. First impulse was to burn it down. I then paused and realised the operators need locking in it first. And do they **************** charge £150.

I have no doubt you are right, £150pp times ten per class wouldn't be bad money. This is all theory, he wouldn't actually go to a warehouse. Nice work if you can get it.

1 day ROLO course then assessment monkey test, about £200.

Why do the Jobcentre want him to do two weeks training with anyone, in any discipline?

They’re deluded.

You tell me, it's ****************ing scandalous.

Yome coming at it wrong way round yoof.

What is shite, illogical and indefensible is that a ‘system’ has been allowed to establish where someone is required to pay out to do a pointless qual to defend an employer for liability for individual carelessness, clumsiness and/or stupidity.

Is there anyone (employer or employee) that doesn’t hold CSCS in utter contempt?
