This little mother clucker, only just a baby herself, is doing a grand old job so far. Six eggs hatched from a clutch of eight, the remaining two were dragging on so I took them away. Ah well.

It is, they were mostly hatched on Easter Sunday, perfect timing. The kids' egg hunt ended here in the chicken shed. The big chocolate egg and a handful of little chicks was a much better finale than

I like the trampoline run. It does remind me - outdoor space with a roof is a good idea, and also a bit of wind shelter. I modified the coop we bought by putting it up on legs and boarding in two side

Well one popped out early on Monday, 2 on time and one late one yesterday. 4 out of 18 is disappointing, having said that 18 would've been a challenge! Leaving the incubator run another 24hrs just in case but 4 doing well in the brooder now...

Still have two chicks. Bought some crumb. Seem to be coming on quite fast. They go for a half hour walk outside with mum. One did get picked up by another chicken a few days ago. Chaos ensued. Mum fearless. She’s so far squared up to the geese, the other chickens, Sailor and me to protect them.
