Back with the flock. This is why farmers can’t go on holiday. There were five chicks from mother two for a few days. Now there’s only one. Rats probably.

The teenagers doing well. Fast! My mate was trying to catch the white one to clip its wings so it wouldn’t keep flying into his side. He gave up after a fortnight.

Do you think chickens get stung by nettles? Or just don't like them for some other reason?

Stung tongues my guess. The new mother and survivor chick have been hiding from the sun and magpies in them.

22 on my lap, Stubby.

cutting back someone's garden last year - she had rats on her bird feeder. She got a pest controller to put bait boxes down and the rats went. Not sure if bait boxes would be safe around chickens and dogs. Maybe outside the chicken run, dog would have to be determined

I have bird feeders so I have rats . I shoot them out of my daughters bedroom window . .22 Daystate or .410 shot gun .

Aye. No poisoning for reasons you articulate. Besides lead poisoning.

Yes, bird feeders, or rat feeders if you like - all the suggestions are only put out 1 days food at a time (RSPB and so on).. but of course it is more convenient to fill up a months word of rat food in 1 go.

Our birds get a handful of nuts each morning, and so far no rat problem.
