I know mate. But the insurance want a certificate of it being swept apparently.

The sweep also said you should change your log burner every 10 years!? I wish I was there when he came round!

Not allowed to cover it with cement board, the same goes for cement board cladding  a battened wall within certain distance from stove or flue pipe

Had a stove (used for 15 years or so by previous owner and me) condemned by a sweep a few years back as the wooden lintel was too close to the flue. I kept using it regardless.

 

Moved house, had new stoves installed by a professional, and still use the same sweep - he was right, and also cheaper than the chap who used to happily sweep my old stove every year and say everything was fine...
