Slow days at work

Am I the only one who looks forward to this time of year. I virtually shut down over December and January to chill out and spend time doing the stuff I can't do in spring/summer/autumn because it's to busy. I don't have a team of guys on the books so I have the freedom to do it, but for me to work all year and not actually enjoy a well earned break is absolute madness. Head down to the yard for the odd day, have a fire and split wood, actually have time to have lunch and not rush eating. Those simple things for me are important. Working yourself flat out all year is not good and I didn't get into working for myself to do that.

I'm with you on this, with it being darker in the morning we get stuck in school traffic going to work, and as said dark by 4pm ish. We usually just tip around this time of the year and have a few handy jobs on the books if the weather is poor we stay at home. I look forward to Dec and Jan as planned downtime.

Too much booked in to have downtime, but by 4pm I want to be home in the armchair.

Try to make sure jobs are planned to be finished by 2pm and home for 3 latest this time of year 👍

Bang on there! That's usually me.... though we usually work up to 20th then January is a crap month so I don't care for work. 

 

Taking some staff on the books this time round so things will be a bit different.... see how it goes I'll get used to it

Wish we had the opportunity to be so relaxed about knocking off early in the dark but unfortunately it's just keep going as this time of year always brings in the bigger projects that have been off in the long nice days because of our feathered friends.
No I don't expect lads to be climbing or felling in the dark but if tidy up still needs doing I've bought you a decent head torch so get on with it, some may say harsh but it's reality especially since some of the jobs were priced and planned in April-may which after all these years still pisses me off some of our clients do this as sit on a start date till the most difficult time of the year to do the jobs

I spent a while fitting some mega light bars to my Logbullets. Then realised I don’t like working in the dark!

Even fitted some to the stump grinder as it's normally the last thing to get done on a job and saves coming back of its been taken.
