Stealing work rant!

This has really riled me!

Made a planning ap for some work ,my company name is shown as the agent on the application...client has recieved a letter from another company in newmarket offering there services for the above job...now they must of seen my name as the agent and that its a tree company..

I know this happens but i think if the agent is a tree company then its taking the p!s

not happy i would not dream of doing this to some one else there is enough work for every one if you have to steal other peoples you should maybe look at why you dont have any your self and think about a career change.

Matty I'm pleased you posted this as I was feeling much the same and was going to have a rant myself. We have a firm round these parts and that is all they seem to do, they have written to several regular customers who have shown me the letter but I have lost some business to new customers. I think it is totally unethical and a mean and low thing to do and by the sound of so do most other people on here as well.

I am not the only one, I know of 3 other firms that they have really hacked off as well and if they carry on they are going to end up unhappy.

After reading this thread I looked on our LA's websites for my own applications, I didn't find any at any of the three LA's that I normally deal with. They do publish details of planning applications but not tree work so it must be an English thing.

Do they publish conservation area work Apps as well as TPO's?

Do they publish conservation area work Apps as well as TPO's?

Just had a quick look and they do publish both.

Surprising the amount of apps put in though!

And I thought our TO was a lazy git:blushing: (only jkin BTW in case your reading this:001_smile:)

I couldnt see any tree companies names on them though, mainly just Mr/Mrs Jones etc. Although the odd housing trust.

Now wheres my headed letter paper??? :001_tt2:

hmm that seems strange that they dont show the agent to be honest i just assumed they would but i have never looked or cared too :blushing:

maybe they should as the agent is the one who corresponding with the council about the work and filling all the forms dictating what will be done ect might stop a lot of cold calling if people know there is some one doing the work already...feel quite embarressed about my rant now!

might be some thing to get on there case about!

.feel quite embarressed about my rant now!

I wouldnt mate, it is still something to get annoyed at and has brought up some good opinions on the subject.

As I said earlier I would be more annoyed with the customer than the tree firm but thats just me and I respect what others think/feel about it.:thumbup1:

They might not show the agent in the cases masterh looked at? Many people put in planning themselves before contracting a tree comapany for the work.

Anyway, even if they did show an agent it means nothing. The permission is for the tree not the tree company, and its up to the tree company to try and get the work or keep it if they have already quoted.

I still can't imagine any contract with the client would be binding before any work took place. They could always decide to go elsewhere for any reason. The only thing I can think of would be a 5% deposit on the work before the application is made. This would only be refundable if the application is turned down. If they then go elsewhere then at least you got your 5%. (a minimum amount would be good too).

Might work?
