My 76 year old fellow canal restorer met the lids for the first time last week

and found no problems using them without any instruction, despite being a supporter of the other orange ones.

I find that if the lid fits,it stays put.The screw ins tend to hydraulic lock and as the oil is used go loose and fall out, leading to damp legs:thumbdown:

The original poster asked about the new stihl caps on all saws. i.e has anyone else spilt oil and fuel

We all know its mainly the oil cap on the ms200t that is the main offender.

Even I who constantly gets oil down me leg from the OIL cap on the ms200t ONLY – have never had a problem with the fuel caps, I like skyhuck fail to see how you can get a fuel spill.

I reckon about half the people who have posted recognise a design fault, resulting in oil all over the floor, your leg, and your saw – (surely a potential hazard, by the way)

The other half go one of two ways-

- There is no problem at all and the first 50% are all dumb

-They recognise that it’s a bit tricky but deal with it and don’t see it as a design fault. and also think the first 50% are all dumb.

So what does this say about all of us, Why can’t we get a consensus?, Where do we go from here? The last few posts may be shouting the loudest...

so does the squeaky wheel get the oil?

My experience yesterday, filled saw 5 times, 4 times no problem, last time an absolute sod, took me at least 8 or 9 nine attempts to get it to lock. I agree with what Timber Cutter Dartmoor said, you don't want to be piddling about with them, especially when it's cold, and wet, there is a flaw with the oil filler cap.
