Future Firewood Demand Optimism?

Jeez us!  Do you leave the windows open or is it a mansion! 40!  A poorly insulated 3 bed semi here, heated purely with ~ 12m³ wood

Since I'm on gas (but actually burn wood) I don't follow oil prices but know my brother is happy with it now. I was surprised he swapped when he did, but the house is warm and it's not expensive.  He does top up with a few cube through a 7 or 8 kW stove.

Not a mansion but a very poorly insulated single glazed farmhouse with 6 chimneys and full of women. 🤣 Double Glazing should have been installed last summer but “Covid”. One of the stoves does our cooking and hot water sinks on 24/7. IMG_9752.jpg

I used to be on about 12 cu meters, but then I became married and all of a sudden  I am up to Trigger Andy's consumption!

It may be that electricity demand causes power cuts and gas limitations
Has there ever been a gas cut or is that too dangerous?

Not yet, AFAIK. Electricity grids can be restarted (although it’s hard and getting more difficult as generation mix changes) but gas grids and pressurisation would be a ‘mare. A guy in my team at work used to work for a large utility dealing with the ancillary services to National Grid; he always said that the operability of the gas grid would get protected ahead of power.

No fuel deliveries, gas cut off by Russia for political purposes, coal power stations shut down to reach net zero, electric and gas prices through the roof, nuclear power stations out due to NIMBYISM, law of averages coldest Winter for twenty years, Daily Mail headlines OAPs dying from hypothermia.
