Cheap domestic chippers - avoid?

I'm often shocked at how often at how often machines or aspects of machines are plagiarised.  We saw tech drawings that came from GreenMech on a Chinese chipper site. Then there was the Jensen X track, the Jensen version of the Predator, that Barford chipper, Bandit and Auschip.......not to  mention a brand of chipper based on a German made unit....

There is virtually no product the Chinese have not copied and adapted.

From international designer brands to Americas figher aircraft.

I might own a Chinesium clone of a CS100 but I'll be the first to admit the quality isn't that of a Greenmech.

Alignment of components, changes of design to get around patents, paintwork and material quality, all are below that of European manufactured brands YET... not so low to render them useless or throwaway.

Personally,  I'd rather support a closer economic community, even if it costs more......

I'm not saying you are wrong.

Just for your info.

A CS80 (most excellent yet in dire need of updating) costs around €6500 ttc in France whilst it's Chinesium copy currently €1480ttc and uses the same engine.

I have spotted one of these 6hp machines this morning (Forest Master), I am after something for chipping brash/thin stuff to 40mm max diameter. Probable a day (6-8 hours) usage per month. I don't have a huge budget and do not have a requirement for a large professional machine. Any suggestions or advice welcomed.

Woukd a 6hp unit be suitable for smaller scale material i.e. up to 20mm diameter? I would like a compact machine that I can store easily and be quite portable (not meaning towable though).

Same size really as a 13hp one.
