What Kind of Trees Are These?

Hi, I am a newbie here>. Please forgive my ignorance. I have two trees in my back yard growing together in the same spot. I was wondering if is okay to let them grow like that touching each other or eventually one will die because of the other one. Also, I have no idea what kind of tree they are. I was wondering if you guys can help me identify them. Thank you so very much.

Does look like a shrub one of my customers had and reckons it Portugal Laurel. I'm not sure, it's chipped and ground out now anyway so no argument.

I'd go with Portuguese laurel but usually the leaves are more jagged on the edge?

It is used for hedging so no real need unless you want the separate .

I'm pretty sure neither of these are portugese laurel. Don't know yet what they are.
