Had a contractor around today and he’s managed to rip my astroturf by throwing logs from a height. Did ask him to be careful.

Is it fair to ask for insurance details to get it put back to how it was before he arrived?

Grateful for your opinions.

If it was a fence panel or a pane of glass in the green house you would ask for it to be replaced so why not the plastic grass? If the contractor decides to take it on the chin or claim on the insurance is there decision.

Good luck getting sorted.

One reason I price higher for plastic grass, accidents happen but if he didn’t take any precautions then it’s slack on his behalf so yes I would ask for compensation.

If you want the damage repaired simply ask. I would not ask for insurance details directly, I would politely ask for the repairs to be made. They may choose to pay out of there pocket as opposed to claiming on insurance.

Should I withhold paying until it’s sorted?

Just feel daft for not going out and stopping him chucking the stuff down. Assumed he would take care and knew my concerns. Did mention it when he started and also asked the groundie.

You can stitch and glue much the same as they repair carpets, usually they repair first then if not acceptable replace, invisible repairs are an art and require great skill
