Clearing saw ( if its a good one , eg Husqvarna etsc ) will cut up to 4" dia with out having to bend over . Anything much over that its a chainsaw bent over or a purpose built machine you can drive .

I've got a Honda 35cc brushcutter with the stihl cutting disc and it fells some good size stuff. It ain't no FS460 but it handles what I throw at it and as long as I know it's weaknesses it's solid. Anything over 4" it's chainsaw time.

Not said how big an area. Over a hectare would get forest flail in. Quicker easier cheaper. K

Did 40 Acres, with clearing saw removing Sitka regen. 4 operators for 5 days, good money, luckily did it before the snows came.

Removing or respacing?

Removing all Sitka, leaving all else downy birch larch and other planted trees. It was besides a wind farm and previous crop spruce were removed to reduce wind shear., but the site reseeded exceptionally well with spruce, hence why we were there.
