Speeding up a stihl MS066?

O.k I've now seen enough footage of guys using "modded saws" to ring up butts in a way that can only be described as "efficient" to warrant some enqiuries into the pros and cons and even methods for speeding up a decent sized saw.

I know some of you guys are familiar with this stuff so whats your views on this, hows it done, what can you do, and just how much difference can it make?

If it's an 066 you may be able to use one of the "large bore" kits for a 660?

It would increase the cylinder bore and thus the "cc" of the saw giving it more power...

Porting it would be beneficial too, grinding out the ports with a diamond bit on a modelling drill then polishing to make the fuel/air and exhaust flow smoother...

A very easy power gain can come by opening the exhaust port up on the muffler, adding an aftermarket filter like a Maxflow. Remember it is important to richen the high jet when this is done. The limit caps will need to be moved so you can increase fuel on the high end.

this simple action will give a marked increase in performance.
