Maybe he should have put it across differently, no need to take the piss out of him, dont try and tell me that dismantling that is an awkward job

I directed it at you not the OP.

I have no issues with the OP he is well within his rights to reject prices etc

What I wanted to know from you (a fellow tree surgeon) is what you would put on it as you are saying the 2k I suggested appears too much or unrealistic...

The op has started three threads on this very tree. In this thread and another posted in the Milling forum he has asked for the Stump to be ground out.

He asked for prices, he dismissed the prices out of hand as 'its too much'.

You really do need to keep up and perhaps read the full saga before going all White Knight.

It’s not the size of the tree (6” or a foot) that determines the price pro rata. It’s an easy enough job but that only means you DON’T put on the pita tax, not that it’s going to be cheap.

Its the time and effort getting to and parking in London that costs.

So getting into London, setting you truck and chipper up somewhere nearby, getting it down and out of a back garden, then getting it all off site, using a pedestrian grinder to get the stump done.

2k including vat, does seem a little excessive, I’d put it at £1200 plus VAT.

At least you had the balls to put forward a price.

If i was beaten by your quote it would be cool as at least its reasonably close.

The £466 difference between me and you is the tax I charge for wear and tear on my back from that many logs 😂

No guarantee you can even get a wheel barrow through

I'd expect to pay 2k if it had all it's branches and was 15m tall. that could be a 2day job

2k is too much lol it's a 1 day job

Estimated prices appear to have been offered by those potentially willing to exchange their time / equipment / experience at a price they would be content with.

If the proposed prices for the exchange are too rich for you (OP), all you can do is keep looking ‘til you hit the bargain basement or maybe do it thy self.

Maybe worth bearing in mind though - when somebody asks somebody else to do something they themself can’t do, then sets about telling the person that can do it how long it’ll take, how to do it and how much it should cost, don’t be surprised if the price is significantly inflated.
