I like Ray Mears and his website was cheapest for gear recently when ordering new cooking gear. Whilst Bear Grylls runs about eating insects and jumping off cliffs before retiring to his 5* hotel, Ray goes out and does genuine bushcraft, stays in the forest and cooks bread. Plus his calm nature makes for good watching, Bear seems to be edgy for no reason!

I made an emergency shelter using a deflated paddling pool hung over a skipping rope tied between a tree and a bike shed once.

You shoukd have heard the children cry.

I made something akin to this (but ten times more shite) in my garden a good few years back after I cleared a whole lot of laurels. Took a few days, slept in it once (well tried to doze) and then set fire to it the next year8287ac7c29cea971e501eabfc9f7dad5.jpg

Never watched him. Felt like was being unfaithful. I did see him take a bite out of a frog then spit it out and just felt it unnecessary. I have a bear grylls machete though. A lot cheaper than RMs

I like a bit of bushcraft. Usually once a week I stay on the estate where I work and set up either a tarp or bivvy bag usually  ( on a fishing bed 😏) either by the river and fish or in the woods. I enjoy it relaxes me watching nature’s tv🔥 with a nice steak or something. I’m also lucky to have a caravan up in Norfolk and venture often onto the broads and have found a few islands which the bigger craft can’t get near and have spent many a happy night there just enjoying the peace.
