Has anyone found a good electric saw ?

Never thought of a hydraulic saw. Could the pump run off 13amp supply or are we talking honda power pack.

 

Power pack im pretty sure mate, and i have a feeling there expensive.

Same dilema - noise doing firewood near houses hence this

 

I think its about 400 plus vat. Must have some power because it is fitted with full size 3/8 chain. Would you say its as good as the ms181 .

That looks good and good make anyone used one ? . I think I will try and get a quick try before spending £200 - £400 on another saw . there is a pile of toys and gadgets in my workshop that looked ideal at the time.

 

Perhaps i should get the neighbours to have a wip round :lol:

I normally use an ms 260 for preping wood for our Hakki pilki.

 

Sorry to go off topic here but im looking for a saw to prepare firewood and was wondering is the 260 the saw for the job or would you consider a saw slightly bigger / smaller more suitable. Wood is probably averaging 10" -12" in diameter, biggest no more than 16" - 18"

I use a 260 on stuff 6-14"

If I had a lot of 12-18" stuff to do I would use my ms390

I prefer the 260 as I can work all day as the weight is easier on the back.

there was a post a few weeks back with a vid and the huskey looked faster but cant comment as not owned that model. I would not go smaller than the 260 and would stick to the forestry range. 361 would be good but too heavy for me.

We have a Husqy electric chainsaw. The bigger of the two they make, with a 16" bar. We have owned it for almost a year now. And it was bought from Stanton Hope. At first i thought the cable would get in the way but i soon got used to it. All our cutting is done inside, so to have something quieter than an ordinary chainsaw is lovely. I know its got its limitations but it has saved us alot in fuel costs and chain oil. Also there is not a problem with the air filter blocking as we are cutting dry wood on a concrete surface which tends to lead to a dusty environment. We do have other saws to cut firewood being bandsaws and circular saws which are used in conjunction with dust extractors.

I tried one with a 20" and buried it (the most powerful stihl one) in an ash log - easily as much power as an 024, maybe an 026 but quiet, low vibes and no emissions!
