Worth the effort?

I’m surprised at Beech but good on you for getting a nice price on it.
What was the MC when sold ?

No idea.
I’m guessing less than 20% as it’d been milled a few years before.
The first thing the client asked was I cut 2’ off.
Felt dry on the inside to the touch.
Still quite heavy though.
But yes, sadly beech like ash is an undervalued wood as it’s not “fashionable” right now.

Cut it in two.
One 3m and one 2.6m
3” thick slabs
Get a miller in for two+ days.
Cost approx £800-£1200
You will have to move the big heavy slabs,
Store them with 1” sticks every 14-16”.
In a dry barn.
You should get £200-600 a board when dry, and you will get at least 12-16 boards.

Id mill that in a day with the lucas if the root and crown were gone and the stick was snedded. £500. I would value the seasoned boards at £1500 to 3k. Depending on quality. Assuming that is that the sick is good.

That’s good going[emoji108]
Could you mill it at that angle?
Or would the log have to be horizontal?

lovely flame colours which were not visible from the outside of the log

That's a right nice piece of kit you've got there, just googled Peterson mills and got a good video of one of their mills being demoed.

I could mill it as it is if I couldn't move it. My preference would be to pull the high end 2/3 of the way down so I'd still be Milling down hill but not down hill quite so much.

Great piece of kit! I have a WPF with a ten inch cut and it’s great for making standard bourd which is what I want as a furniture maker also removes the need for a first cut when using a chainsaw mill as I can cut the top and bottom of the logs into bourds and use the wider center sections as slabs

I’ve attached a few photos of what is capable.. the mill will cut about 2m3 an hour including time for manual log handling.
