Here's the Canadian firelighter, we go through a lot of these... look at the fire roar!

Those disposable cups have a layer of plastic in them - I wouldn’t want to burn them and besides, I hardly ever go to a coffee shop for a take away coffee as I’ve always got a kettle on the stove for a fresh brew

Homebargains Firelighters are 50p a pack and burn wel A pack lasts me a week.

Making your own is nice quaint hobby but factor in your time and is it worth it? Thats a minimum of £30. I can buy a lot of Firelighters for thirty quid. :D

Kindlings another matter though. At £2.00 for a small bundle I can knock out £2.00's worth in under 2 minutes and have it cut to the length I like and not that dumpy crap you get at Homebargains which is about 6" long and 2" diameter. I find that 140 year old Pine flooring makes lovely Kindling.

This started as we had a load of old candles and an abundance of sawdust and chippings I needed to get rid of.

Time really isn’t a factor as it takes less than a minute to stuff the egg carton and pour a little melted wax over the top, but if I can earn £30 a minute, I might have to give it up 😂

It's this kind of ingenuity that won us two world wars.... 😄

Well I was thinking more of a months supply. Thats £8 for me maximum. But I get your point, if you're can make a weeks worth in 1 minute with free materials then why not. But I guess most folk need to buy something.

Well the paper cups in KFC must be coming without the plastic lining as they go soggy and leak the following day. They are also seemingly making the straws out of recycled newspaper as they go soggy upon contact with liquid. In fact on foggy days I would expect them to be supplied almost in liquid form.

There are paper cups without the plastic lining but very rare at the moment.
