Reverse engineer required

Any of you helpful chaps know of a reverse engineer?

No, nit talking about someone that specialises in reverse gears, but basically I need some part manufactured for an obsolete machine. I can go back to the manufacturer, but they will insist I buy 10 and charge an exorbitant amount.

It's basically a shaft, milled, with some sunken threads in the end, and a couple of cut outs for some key ways.

I was told there are people out there who if you send them what's required, not only can they copy it, but also produce cad drawings.

I did get drawings off the manufacturer for some things, but they are now point blank refusing to give me any more, I think they are frightened to death I might start building the machine and selling them myself!

Ah. Ok. I might know somewhere nearby, I dont think he cam do a cad drawing though, but will check

Why do you need cad drawing ? Old fashioned tools will make what you’ve described

id take the part and ask them to copy it

Is the existing shaft broken or simply worn? If its worn you could get the worn section spiral welded and then machined back to the correct diameter.

Worse. Snapped. Its 50mm steel. Pictures will go onto the fings wot  broke thread  eventually
