Jensen Trailer Mounting???

Hi Guys

 

I have a snapped chassis on my Jensen 530 sub 750. For the cost of a new chassis from Jensen I can get a Knott trailer which is rated higher as per the picture. Has any one done this or should i not bother? Jensen say they have upgraded the chassis now but I am not sure.......

Watch it doesn't push you over 750kg OK if you are an oldy but not if whipper snapper.

Yer should have mentioned it doesn't really matter if it goes over as we have trailer licence

Just check your feed hopper height/safety bar legal requirements if mounted on that - you may need a different safety bar set-up if it raises/lowers the feed table.

My best mate/close business associate has one of these bought for a song that we slid  under a generator.  Tows very nicely 👍👍

Whether it's better value than a genuine replacement I couldnt say, depends on your use- if you load your chipper up with cones, arbtrolly,  bags of takings etc it could be useful to have a bit more weight capacity?

There is no mention of age? If it is fairly recent unit of say 7 years or so, I'd ask for factory and dealership  records of similar failures. It may have been a common experience and as such, I'd be asking  for som assistance?

Back a while, pushing a trailer unit like the one shown, was an easy way of making a towed device compliant in Europe. We did load like this for France. Probably still got a few in the weeds out the back of the  GreenMech factory too!

The machine is 5 years old. To be fair to Jensen they have offered me a reduction on price for the Jensen chassis. Still comes in at the same price as something like the above which has the axle,wheels and lighting all set up ready to go..........

Five years sounds about right for the batch of chassis that broke.
