How do I recognise ash?

Hi all,

 

I'm getting some wood delivered, the seller says it's ash.

 

Is there an easy way to identify logs as ash?

yes if you know what ash looks like, not being funny. grey bark, if its from a narrow diameter tree the bark will be smooth and if its from an older tree it will have rougher bark. google it.

Yep, if its dry it will burn well

the bark is smooth and grey on younger, also the grain is very distinctive in side with clear lines of growth,

In time no doubt all logs will have a serial number, explaining wood type, where grown, who cut it complete traceability..........

in the future suppliers will have to bar code them and the buyer can have a scanner, jobs a good un!!

 

as the posts above mate you can tell by the bark.

I know what you mean, only properly read the other thread and saw your post after i posted the pictures....
