Landy tipper or Transit tipper again? HELP!

Do you need a 4x4 or towing heavy trailers? If yes then get the land rover - if no then a transit will probably be better / enable you to do bigger jobs without having to empty the chip half way through the day!

ford did make a county transit 4x4, i saw a tipper version a couple of years ago on fleabay but it was on for daft money.

You have to look at the type of work you do and only you can decide. Like most things they have pros and cons.

 

I am very lucky that I have a single cab transit and a landy 110 tipper. The transit legally carries 1.6 ton and the landy 1 ton. I don t think I could operate without both now it cuts down on a lot of man hours.

 

If you can get a 130 with all ali tipper body then I would reccomend it as its so much more practical. Shop around as so many tipper bodys weigh different amounts depending how they are made.

 

Like I said only you can decide.

Thank's guys, yes quite a bit of my work comes from the LA and most of it is in some muddy field or off road some where, my transit dosn't even like wet grass.

I know in the ideal world both would be nice, but i already have a V8 Range rover pimped up so this would have to go.

It looks like i'm swaying towards the Landie at the mo.

P.s Sawdust thats one pimp landie, how much room do you loose by having the crew cab? I know its great for kit, but when it comes to removing chip off site,

personally i would go for a Transit if you are not in need of four wheel drive , i used to have a Transit tipper and that would carry much more chip than a cabstar and proably two and a half times what my ranger tipper will hold .

Another thought... if you are going for a tranny consider the old smiley face's over the new shape ones, as the old smiley's are built for the abuse that we put them through.

 

So if you have an old one it maybe worth spending a load of dosh on it to keep it running.

 

Or maybe an iveco daily... oooooooerrrrrr! That's put a spanner in the works. (but not if you want to go off road. Apparently too low slung, unless you get a new one.) O even a 4wd iveco.. oops think I just... iveco porn:thumbup::thumbup:
