Shipping Container Ventilation?

Morning all,

 

I need to ventilate my container, getting condensation build up on the roof inside. Anyone got any top tips? Have been thinking the little whirly spiny efforts you get for some vented vehicles might do the job perhaps?

Well, firstly, I'd stop having sweaty sex parties in there 😎

 

Secondly, I'd consider a dehumidifier. The other options is insulating it.

Haha! I wish mate! My penis has seen so little action I’m considering replacing it with something useful, like a bottle opener perhaps?! 😆

 

Toying with the idea of putting a small pitched roof on and cladding it perhaps?

 

I was thinking more about airflow, or the lack of it currently being the biggest issue.

Containers are sh*t.
Ovens in the summer, freezer in the winter.
Had 20’ modern container with double ventilation vents.
Ceiling always covered in drips.
As J says insulation.
Or if you have power, an extraction fan.

Unless you insulate it you'll always get condensation in a container, that's just the nature of them. They're a steel box after all.

 

You can get DIY condensation control kits, which will stop it. Or anti-condensation paint, which people have varying levels of success with.

 

Even with roof vents and more airflow, as air is still "trapped" inside so the moisture in it will become condensation, you can only stop that by insulating the offending surface unfortunately.

Know of a guy near me that has setup a solar panel to some leisure batteries and a selection of old car fans onto his log shed for airflow through it.

I drilled a series of 50mm holes in the sides and ends of a 20-footer I use for storage using a mag drill and rotabroach cutter, then stuck a square of mesh on the inside over each hole with Sikaflex. It has made a huge improvement to the condensation problem.

Good knowledge! If I combine this with a pitched roof with overhang on each side I might be on to a winner.
