What we could do with a somebody or firm who could come up with a hydrolic system that could be retro fitted to most makes of bandmills ,so people with the smaller mills could upgrade ,I would totaly buy a set up that I could just bolt together .

I wonder how much work is involved in modifying a system from a competitor? Can see this being the only real-life solution we're ever gonna see as any generic system would still need adapting anyway.

I looked into this long and hard and you can indeed buy some of the Trak met components for log loading,as for handling and turning I’m not so sure. The amount of fabrication trial and error would be quite a lot I’d say. The strength in the mill bed would have to be there from the start to avoid long term damage. I guess there is a reason Woodmizer’s are built like tanks. Hyd pack and controls to think plus you will defo be over the 750kg limit for brakes and a towing licence. If you had the time and facilities it is possible but far from a bolt on option. I’ve not given up yet on the idea of doing it to mine but under the current circumstances ie Covid bollocks it’s not high on the list of things to do.

Easier option is just get a second hand one mark with all the extras on it mate,If you see what is involved  the cost would not be viable.I think anyone needing the hydraulic option needs to be milling a vast amount of stuff to justify the extra cost as a static mill can produce a lot in a short amount of time for the smaller user. All the guys i know using the larger mills are full time operators.
