Echo 2511 1/4 0.43 Panther combo

Anyone experienced this awesome combo binding in the thicker cuts especially on Willow when a little worn ? (The bar/chain, not the Willow!)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted with this setup and cuts impressively quicker than the 1/4 050 option supplied on the later models , but very quickly the chain seems to bind despite diligent sharpening with 3.2mm file with guide and my best most pub glass thickness-est reading specs [emoji165] [emoji851]

Dressed the bar, turned the bar etc.

Sorry to derail thread, but sort of relevant here - anyone else find the 2511 gets its air filter clogged with water in heavy rain? I love this saw, interested in this chain/bar upgrade option.

Couldn’t work it out.

 

Binned it and went over to the Stihl 150 bar with 56 DL chain.

 

Sorted.

Dump the 3.2 file and sharpen with a 4mm one, much easier and cuts just as fast.

I think it would be the same Panther bar and chain I put on my Makita, not found a problem but then haven't tried forestry like Mr B in France.

I have found the file guide doesn't guarantee the file height the same on a 3.2, ended up without any hook after a bit (I think because it can bend up) so periodically freehand out the bottom of the tooth. I haven't tried a 4mm file.

Those 3.2 mm files are a pain. They just flex as you sharpen.
I had the panther bar but the nose of the bar came apart. I contacted chainsaw bars, they asked how many chains I’d run on it. Around 4 or 5 was my thinking. I was told that’s about how long they last..... that’s a bit too consumable for my liking so I replaced it with the sugihara 1/4 bar. That ones still on it’s first chain so couldn’t comment further.

Fits straight on with the Stihl 56 drive link chain, no drilling required.

0.43.

 

Smoothest combo I’ve found as well, love it.
