Engraving your hardware LOLER

Hi all I have got myself a engraver to mark all my kit . I am looking at the carabinas and just want to check any do`s and don't`s with where on a carabina I can engrave /cannot engrave ? as I don't want it to affect the performance or the LOLER inspections .

 

Any input on this would be helpful

Light etch on gate. Anywhere else will result in a LOLER examination fail.

i thought biners came with Individual Serial Numbers so they could be identified? i may be wrong.

or use heat shrink wrap system saves engraving and risking failure

Yep do it on tha gate,or get some humblol model paint,dot each crab a different colour,or number them with dots of paint.

My ball lock petzl one's have serial no's.

Most manufacturers are savvy enough to have serial numbers on their products. It ought to be difficult to buy hardware without a number now.

 

A light engraving on the barrel is all that is needed for anything that didn’t come pre marked.
