crinkle cut crisps

my  N Spruce boards are starting to look like Seabrookes crisps, all crinkle cut. this happened a few years back and it was cured by buying a new bar, but this bar is good. sharp chain on ms661 logosol M8 mill. cleaned and filed smooth the bar. any ideas? it's not the width of the boards or how slowly i progress the chainsaw.

Check the grove in he bar hasn’t opened out allowing the chain to “chatter” from side to side. Or it could be as simple as Uneven sharpening?

Not uneven sharpening as use a grinder. See vid re “give” in two bars. The second is the problem one and there is more give. Disappointed if it is that as the bar is only a year old

What is it like using a different bar and chain ??

I would say Bar mis alined to guide rail. Not that familiar with the m8 but I would be spending some time with a straight edge and shimming some bits out.

Not used the logsol but you can get ripples like that with an Alaskan cutting to fast/pushing to hard

@Rough Hewn knows the logsol mills so probably more qualified to help

Cheers. Been using it for 5 years. I’m pretty sure it’s the bar and not the mill. Like I say not even had a years use out of it. Chain is stihl micro chisel 3/8 .63. I could advance the saw with my little finger but any decent pressure the chain would bind, which I figured cos I’d filed the depth gauges too low

It will not be the mill in a million years.I have the logosol M7 so know its not possible. Chain or bar for sure.

It's pretty much always the chain in every case - I would file the teeth a smidge flatter aiming for 5 degrees, go up a size file or grinding stone size as you want a shallower gullet/side plate angle to the tooth so it is not cutting so aggressively. Also always take the rakers down retro respectively - should sort it.
