Am I right in noticing that the chestnut leaf miner has almost disappeared this year?

Last year there were less than in earlier years so Horse Chestnut leaves lasted longer. This year I’ve caught a few moths in my traps but a fraction of 2-3 years ago.  Last year we blamed the wet weather but that’s not the case this year.  I’m in Surrey maybe just a local effect. Interested to hear others experience.

Last year I noticed the same thing here in south west France, after years of it getting worse and earlier, there was very little sign.

Some trees this year seem free so far, others less so.

Is it not still a bit early for them though ?

You might be right but there are several generations of them starting about April. There have been less so far but I suppose it’s not too late for them to really get going.
