Norwegian Stove Manufacturer

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

I recently acquired a Scandinavian burner as a lockdown restoration project and I’ve been trawling the web looking for some info on the manufacturer, which is Bjorn or Biorn, but I can’t seem to find anything of much help, other than some images of a few Bjorn burners previously for sale. I’ve garnered from these posts that the burner was produced in Norway and that they are supposedly “very old” and “rare”, but wondered if any of you knowledgeable peeps know anything about the makers or the models they produced? I’m not really bothered about it’s value as I only picked it up to keep me occupied during my Covid house arrest, but it would be nice to have a bit of history.

Any help would be gratefully received! I’ve attached a few pics of the stove which is in the process of being cleaned up, if it helps!

Cheers!

Though the power of Google I present to you!

Bjørn (Model name)Also means "Bear"

Drammensjernstøberi ( manufacturer) literal translation "Drammen Iron Foundry"

Drammen is a town about 2 hours drive South of Oslo.

Key words :peis (enclosed fireplace)

                    ovn  (enclosed fireplace)

"histori om Bjørn peisovn fra Drammen jernstøberi" typed into the search bar would likely yield quite a bit of info?

Thank you so much - that's made things so much easier to search!

If you hold down the letter 'O' on many keyboards (iphone for example) it brings up a range of options and if you dont have a Norwegian layout then you'll find the Ø under O and Å under A. :)  Might help with the search?

To add to Mikes description Vedovenen means The Wood Oven, or The Wood Stove.

Hello Shaba,

I found this Björn stove today. Can’t find anything on the internet about the manufacturer either. Do you think it will be a good one to heat up our Yurt from 50m2?

Have you found more information recently about this stove?

Greetings from Wilko

Thats a oven for Coke. Its not the best choice for a yurt, but it will work with wood. Your going to have to run it flat out for a while in order to heat it up.
