Absolute merchant bankers.

Well done for keeping your cool. I must admit the more time I spend driving around the West Country, the angrier and more impatient I become. I went to pick up some beams at a sawmill today for a friend and despite it being in a small town, there is no route into it without doing single track roads. So inevitably ended up reversing my trailer to let a lorry past, squeezing through gaps not wide enough and generally enjoying myself as much as having invasive surgery without anaesthetic.

At least I didn't meet any horses ?

I learnt to drive in Devon, the narrow lanes seem to be accepted by most John, you must have know about them before you moved there? complaining is a bit like moving into Church Lane and moaning about the bells on a sunday morning...You're obviously not drinking enough cider, would make you a bit more laid back...you should try Cornwall, where things are done "dreckly"

We moved here mainly for family reasons, and I knew what the lanes were like. I was out with my cutter on a couple of site visits yesterday and he (without me knowing) kept track of how many times we had to reverse for oncoming traffic. I think he said it was 5-6 times. Either way, it is daft, but I don't see how they have economically upgrade thousands of miles of country lanes. More passing places would certainly help.

Its called Torquay.  K

I worked for an ag contractor for 3 years, on and off, mainly summer. Much sport was had by all when passing a "grokel" tucked into a passing place, if the 160 odd hp Massey,  front loader with flat eight grab, and rear mounted rake, was perceived to fit, then you went through at full chat, you could definitely see the whites of their eyes ?

ps the trick is not to reverse...drive a bigger truck and tough it out Mind you I met a grain artic near Ipplepen once, I was in a unimog, blue rinse in a Micra between us had a melt down...I had to get out and back her car up for her..."you shouldn't bring those down here!" well he's collecting the harvest love, and I'm doing some sawmilling for the farm. maybe you should stick to the main roads?

Riding my (motor) bike last night I came up behind a pair of horse riders from the local hunt stables. They were riding two abreast and refused to move to let me past. I got the evil eye just for being a motorcyclist and the outside rider turned his horse sideways to block my way past them while staring at me like I'd raped his grandmother.

My bike isn't excessively noisy and I wasn't speeding when I encountered them. The road was straight with good visibility and I was attempting to pass them at very slow speed in first gear. Doing everything right, but it wasn't good enough and they obviously just hate bikes.
Well fuck em. I hope the next time I see them I'm riding my Ducati because the noise of that thing shakes the earth. I'll give it a fistful on the way past and it they get thrown and break their fat ignorant necks, so much the better. Cunts.

Typical hunt attitude they told me I shouldn't have been allowed to buy my wood. Arrogant ignorant barstewards.

its obvious you do not know the first thin about horses or the highway code you should read it, it will give you some info
