There is no "shelf life" for diesel, within reason, mine has been in the tank for years and the digger doesn't complain.

I personally prefer a steel tank but a fuel tank of any sort is best kept in a shed out of the sun and away from prying eyes.

Another option would be a decent IBC, preferably black.

Typical, just sold one 1500ltr bunded complete with pipe nozzel and 110v pump, we removed it from a large factory where they renew there tanks every 5 yrs, was going to set it up for myself but a bit to big for me,

There are not many farms around here where the tank isn't on a stand. Never heard of any companies refusing to fill because of needing a ladder. That includes three farms of my own with tanks. A bit like people saying they won't fill single skin tanks when in reality they will fill an ibc if you ask.

I’m after one to keep at the yard, rather than a more portable one. That way I can buy in bulk, and save money, time and hassle. Then I’ll keep using my two 20l jerry cans to take fuel to site ??

That might influence the size of tank u buy as well as how much ur using, I'd prob want atleast 1 months if not 2
