Thought that was  alder buckthorn

@Stere  it could be that too, seem to remember it was good fr the primer as it was so fine , but also regional variations might be the case.  K

(sambuccus nigra), elder, apparently makes a fabulous bow, there are several examples on-line, not the easiest wood to use and needs to be from a mature stem with thick enough side-walls
